OUR CHURCH
History Of The Church
Christ Fellowship Baptist Church had a significant first year in 1982, focusing on establishing their spiritual foundation. They held a successful church conference, appointed officers, and discussed important matters related to the church's development. The adoption of a church logo and motto strengthened their identity. Throughout the year, they flourished as a community, forming auxiliaries, choirs, and study classes.
From 1984 to 2006, the church went through a journey of building and rebuilding. They initially purchased a building on Putnam Avenue but faced a setback when Hurricane Gloria destroyed it during renovations. Undeterred, they acquired a new property on Sumpter Street, which became their new church home in 1986. For the next 20 years, the church experienced growth in attendance and membership.
In 2006, Pastor Kelley announced a new vision for a larger church building. They successfully raised funds and began construction on "The Blue Church of Brooklyn." During the construction phase, the congregation worshiped at a rented facility, continuing their commitment to fellowship. Finally, in 2010, they held their first service in the newly completed church building, which was dedicated with a grand opening ceremony.
The church continued to strengthen its foundation through outreach and community connections. They emphasized being a welcoming beacon of hope, and a community-wide Dedication and Blessing Ceremony was held. The leadership of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church has grown over the years, with Pastor Kelley remaining at the helm.
